INDUSTRY Consulting
Background
Founded in 2021, HUCEG Industry Consulting is a student-led advisory initiative that connects select teams of Harvard undergraduates with strategy and operations projects for leading and emerging clean energy companies.
Teams have executed engagements across the full spectrum of consulting work from artificial intelligence integration strategy to in depth market analysis.
Our teams operate under structured project timelines, deliver executive ready outputs, and work directly with founders. In return, students gain additional experience in energy strategy and deployment while companies access a high performing talent pipeline through the HUCEG network.
We work with a highly selective group of partners from public market leaders to defining technology startups.
TImeline and structure
Project timelines typically last 6-8 weeks, from October through December (Fall) and February through May (Spring).
Teams typically consist of 6-8 members, with one case team lead who is a senior member with prior case and leadership experience. Each member is expected to contribute 5-7 hours per week.
Industry Consulting projects are funded through clients and the funds are used to support HUCEG initiatives and goals.
Clients will provide a specific statement of work and meet weekly to receive updates, provide recommendations on the project prior to the midpoint and final deliverable.

PAST PROJECT & client Examples
Financial modeling, sensitivity analysis, and case study application for metal alloy extraction from waste streams in the United States.
Market research including federal and state policy landscapes, competitive analysis, and RNG asset base characterizations for RNG produced from municipal wastewater treatment in the United States.
Comprehensive market screening and entry strategy for European wholesale electricity market entry. Modeled power pricing, interconnection, and capacity markets.
Evaluated demand segmenting, policy initiatives, grid interconnection, and current OEMs for distributed energy and offshore wind market entry. Developed a comprehensive case study analysis for deployment economics under varying power price, subsidies, and capacity market scenarios.
Creating financial models for costs associated with extracting certain metal alloys from waste streams in the US based on two different scenarios. The project also included two hypothetical case studies and interviews of industry stakeholders.
Conducted research on market opportunities, drivers, trends, and key players for RNG produced from municipal wastewater treatment in the United States. Specific topics included federal and state policy landscapes, competitive analysis, and RNG asset base characterizations.
A two-phase project on energy markets in Europe. The first phase included researching and identifying 3-5 European countries that would work best for the client to expand into. The second phase included in-depth country research on how and where the client should infiltrate the market.
Microgrid and offshore wind projects focused on understanding the opportunities for market entry of small-scale turbines across Europe and the Atlantic.
